RAHA
RAHA is Reading, Analyzing, Highlighting, and Annotating/ Answering. In science we use RAHA to help us on our homework to better comprehend what we read.
When using RAHA first you have to be assigned a homework/ reading. Then we take it home and read it one, maybe two or more times. Next we highlight important things, and lastly we look at what we highlighted and put it into our own words on some blank area close to that highlighted spot, but sometimes there are also questions during the reading to read.
When I'm reading I tend to get distracted by other colorful objects around the room because the book is just black and white, so what I do to help prevent that is use many colors on my reading so my focus is on those colors instead of somewhere else.
RAHA has taught me how to not only to better comprehend what I'm reading but also to only focus on the important information, I did this by making the RAHA colorful so that I could focus better on it.
In Science I learned about chemistry, and how fat is not soluble (the ability to dissolve in a solid, liquid, or gas) in water and they have different densities (amount of mass per unit of volume). I think I grew in inquiry (always asking questions, especially when something is confusing) here because on my RAHA's I would write down questions that I had and sometimes the questions that I wrote, down I found the answer to later on.
Here is one of my RAHA's that I did, and you can see that I used the colors so that I wouldn't look around and get distracted about everything else. Here we learned about nylon and how it's similar to animal hair because they are both very flexible. We also learned that some companies are turn old stuff into new stuff.
We also learned that matter has mass and volume. Matter takes up space (volume) and is made of matter (and mass equals the amount of matter in an object). Here I used and grew in the quality persistence because when I was confused with the reading I kept reading and sometimes it was hard to reread it because I wasn't a huge fan of reading either, but i made myself do it again and i kept going and didn't give up on reading. Persistence means not giving up especially when something is confusing, and that's what I did. If you give up then you will never learn or do want you gave up on then it will never be done. As I kept reading I learned to better comprehend the information, and skills that help with comprehension.
