My Experiences both in and out of school

Softball

I absolutely love softball, its my favorite sport. I've been playing since I was 5. I play pitcher, second base, left field, and shortstop. Softball is a really good trainer for the STEM qualities collaboration and communication, because you have to use your words to express when you want a certain play to be made. You can't just expect the other players to be ready. As a pitcher, I have to deal with being persistent a lot, because you can't give up when you throw a ball, you have to edit your stance and keep trying until you are able to throw a strike.

Soccer

I really enjoy soccer. I started playing when I was five as well, and when I was 11, I broke my arm while playing, then I moved to STEM when I was in sixth grade. Soccer was a bit too much for me to handle, so I took a 2 year break. Got more organized, and began playing when I was 13. Soccer is also a good exercise for collaboration, because you can't expect the other players to know what you want without telling them your plan first.

Tennis

Tennis is something that is newer to me; I always played around with my grandmother when I was younger, but never had a really good understanding of how the game works. In 10th grade, I decided to try out for my home school's team. I play second doubles.

Running

Running is something that is a bit newer to me. I've always run in soccer, softball, and this 5K that the village I live in does every year. But recently I have begun running for fun. I try to set intervals and goals, like run a mile without stopping, walk a mile, then run the next. When I run I feel like I can really clear my head. I often will run while in doing me homework. Like, I'll begin my homework for the night and if I get really stressed or can't get past a problem I will change my clothes, go for a short run, and come back with a fresh, open mind. I see running as an exercise of my ability to be persistentbecause you can't just expect yourself to be able to run a marathon without practicing, but you can't just give up, you have to keep going.

Hospice of Dayton

I have been in the Hospice of Dayton fashion show for three years now. During those three year's I helped my mom's hair salon raise over $30,000 for the fundraiser. I also helped them win Dayton'stop salon, 2014, 2015, 2016, & 2017, and Dayton's Most Creative 2015. The image on the left is from 2014, and the one on the right is from 2015.

Student Ambassador

Student Ambassadors are a group of both middle school and high school students that work together, often in groups of two, to provide information to others about the Dayton Regional STEM School. We often present to partners, members of the board and prospective parents and students.

Student Government

Student Government is a school organization that creates and organizes school events like homecoming, homecoming week and prom. I attend all SGA meetings and communicate to my peers about plans for events. I also am expected to ask those in my grade for ideas about things like theme and food, as well as encourage students to take surveys that are released in coordination with the events.

Senior Committee

Senior Committee is a student-run organization at the Dayton Regional STEM School that is composed completely of members of the senior class. These individuals make decisions regarding senior events, such as the class trip and play a large role in graduation decisions, such as brainstorming the class motto that are then voted on by the rest of the senior class. As president of the committee, I attend meetings all and help vote on decisions. I also help brainstorm different events and ideas for seniors to participate in, as well as volunteering time to making sure the events go well.
