How I Excelled in 9th Grade
In Language Arts I excelled in a project that was called the Flash Fiction Writing project.
When writing our flash fiction, we had to make it 500-1000 words, in third person, include at least one "adjectives shifted out of order", it had be to about someone at least five years older than us, and had to have five of our newly gained vocabulary words. We had just finished learning about plot structure, and how there can be multiple climaxes, and most importantly (or at least I think it is) that a good writer never ends a piece of writing with "The End", occasionally with the exception of children’s Books. I had never known that, so I was feeling really stressed about writing, and smoothly finishing off the story without using the end. This project was actually quite interesting, because when we were reading our stories to classmates, it was amusing to see how differently we took the task. Some were funny, some were sad, and some were mysterious.
Creativity really helped me get through this writing, because at first it was very bland, but then I started thinking of creative little things to really get the story moving, and it almost had me moving a little too much!
I have never thought of myself as a good writer, I love to read, but I never felt like I could write anything worth reading. But when I started writing my piece, it was almost hard for me to just draw it to a closing before I hit the 1000 word count.
I most definitely grew in creativity, because of the rules and guidelines that we had to write our piece. It seemed like a challenge to write in third person, because I had never done it before, but it actually was really fun, and a new experience that I will use in the future because I really like the way that it turned out.

This artifact shows how I began to develop my characters, but they were very vague, simply because I didn't know who these people were going to be. I didn't know my characters or what my story was going to be when I started writing it, but once I began to write it was really hard for me to stop. In some ways, I feel like my story was a little too vague, but it was as descriptive as it could have been with the word requirements. I feel like I could write a chapter more because I have so many more ideas to improve it! Sadly, flash fiction is exactly as the title states, a flash of fiction.

The final product really shows how I started with almost no knowledge/ experience with flash fiction, or even writing at all, and I continued to make something that I was really proud of, and even enjoyed writing. I truly do think that I excelled during this project because, again, I went from nothing to something that I felt was really good, because I had never written a flash ficton, or really any other forms of creative writitng that I felt like I was really in controll of the piece.
